Lou Gehrig (10) / Sterling Biographies
Lou Gehrig (10) / Sterling Biographies
In a speech that echoed throughout Yankee Stadium, Lou Gehrig spoke some of the most famous words in American sports history; "Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the fact of the earth." At the time, Lou was ill with the disease that was to take his life: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. With that speech, he ended an outstanding baseball career in which he set numerous batting records. Gehrig was most famous for completing a streak of 2,130 consecutive games, playing even when he was in pain or was sick. Lou Gehrig inspired many with his do-your-best attitude.
