Though it originated on the Arabian Peninsula, and Arabic is the language of the Quran, the Muslim holy scripture, Arabs constitute only 20 percent of Muslims around the world. More than half of all Muslims live in South Asia and Southeast Asia, distributed in four key countries - Indonesia, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh - and the fastest growing religion in Europe is Islam. Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim country and the world's third largest democracy.
